Beans of Rajma Seeds-Laal Lobia-For Cultivation. The English name for rajma is kidney beans. Rajma is a popular dish in the Northern states of India. Some of the best Rajma is said to be grown in the north Indian states of Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and the Jammu region of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Rajma will grow well in the soil which is loose and dry. Soil which is moderately loam is perfect for Rajma. If you see that your soil is heavy, then you can add sand or organic manure for the improvement of soil. The level of soil pH should be between 6 to 7.
The growing kidney bean seedlings should emerge between 10-14 days from planting. You can grow kidney beans at home in your own garden, either in the ground or in a planter. Sprouting occurs in ten to fourteen days, and the beans are ready to harvest within about 100 to 140 days.
Season for plantation:
Early varieties can be sown in October end where as late varieties can be sown till November mid. For Kharif season crop, Middle of May to Middle of June is best sowing season. For spring season crop, Feb to 1st week of March is best for sowing.
Razma is safe when they are properly cooked in a pressure cooker.
Beans are rich in protein. Only 3.5 ounces (100 grams) of boiled kidney beans boast almost 9 grams of protein, accounting for 27% of the total calorie content.
